Meta Analysis

Meta analysis is a procedure of statistically combining and comparing multiple studies, either qualitative or quantitative, to come to a common conclusion. It is a part of systematic reviews which is performed to provide a valid and relevant solution for an intervention. Meta analysis is statistically stronger than other studies as it comprises greater diversity in information and data. RevMan, MetaWin and MIX are some of the softwares which can be used to perform meta-analysis effectively.

Why is Meta-Analysis Important?

Meta Analysis helps in establishing a significance with the studies having contradictory or conflicting results.

It helps in enhancing the estimate of effect magnitude.

Due to the complex and larger data, it provides a complex analysis of the data to clarify the limitations and possibilities of the study.

The studies which are not significant individually can be classified into subgroups to make much more sense together with meta analysis.

Our Process of Meta Analysis

PRISMA Data Search

To keep the research area around the study, a systematic PRISMA search has been conducted before actually starting with the meta analysis. The team of Statworkz first gathers the basic research related information and studies which are relevant to the current analysis and prepare a PRISMA model.

Screening and Selection

With the help of the PRISMA model, the screening and selection process takes place in which duplicate, outdated and irrelevant information gets eliminated and only the latest information which is directly connected to the study stays in the database after the full-text reviews.

Software Analysis (RevMan)

In order to perform a thorough analysis of data and keeping only the relevant and reliable studies for the meta-analysis, our team uses the RevMan software which further takes down the information which does not fit the research criteria.

Submission

Finally, when the studies and data get selected, our team performs the meta-analysis and the solution which clearly defines the effectiveness of the research and points out the reasons for the gaps that have been identified in previous research and studies.

Purpose of Meta Analysis

By providing higher clarity in conclusions, enhanced statistical power, reliable data-analysis and evidence-based result, Meta Analysis can fulfill the following purposes:

  • Publishing : Many journals ask for systematic reviews and meta-analyses from the researchers to be published in order to encourage them and also to make available content for other scholars and researchers who can use those studies and analysis as references or support content.

  • Planning Future Studies : After the meta-analyses, the unanswered questions from the previous studies can be highlighted which can become the base for planning the future studies. The significance of few outcomes can open up new possibilities for further research surrounding those topics as well.

  • Application Grants : In case the result from the meta-analysis highlights the importance of a study or research that needs to be conducted, the scholar or researcher can apply for a grant to conduct that study. The meta-analysis provides evidence-based conclusions which make it easier for the grant application to get accepted.
